KAY MUSTILL CHARITY TOURNAMENT

The second charity doubles tennis tournament in memory of Kay Mustill will take place at the club on Friday 22nd May.
Play will begin at 9.00am and will be followed by a buffet lunch.
All proceeds will go to Thames Hospicecare.
Last year the event raised over £2,500 and was played in the spirit of friendliness and love for the game that was worthy of Kay's memory.
It promises to be yet another successful day.

Entry forms are available from behind the bar.

Entry fee of £20 per person to include an undoubtingly good buffet lunch (Courtesy of Maggie Smith).Prize giving & raffle after lunch.

The AGM will be held in the Club lounge on Tuesday 27th January at 8.00pm.
All current members are invited to attend.
Proxy forms should be returned to the club no later than 8pm on Sunday 25th January.
Nomination forms & the financial reports are available at the club.

Members will be invited to vote on 2 resolutions.
1) to increase membership subscriptions by 5% effective 1st March 2009
2) To include a 'Resignation & Expulsion' clause in the club's constitution to comply with Tennis Clubmark guidelines.

Club Sessions move indoors

The Tuesday & Sunday Club sessions move to the indoor courts from this week.
Courts have been set aside from 6.30 - 9.30pm on Tuesdays & 10.00 - 1pm on Sundays.
The cost of each club session is £5 per person. No need to book, just turn up & play no matter what the weather is like.
To mark the first Tuesday indoors, a bangers & mash supper inc a drink & your court fee can be reserved for £10. Please sign up @the bar, email the club or call if you wish to eat too!

Junior Open Tournament 2008

The closing date for entry into this year's junior open event has now passed. The draw will take place on Wednesday evening (16th July). All participants will be notified soon after with the day and time of their first match. With over 100 entries and many entrants participating in more than one event we anticipate a bumper turnout. The grade 4 tournament will run from Monday 28th July through until Saturday 2nd August.
All outdoor courts are reserved for tournament matches from 9am - 6pm on each day of the event. Indoor courts will be used if the weather is unkind and so members are requested to call in on a daily basis to check availability. Use of the outdoor courts after 6pm will remain as the per the summer court schedule.
Hot and cold refreshments will be available throughout the day and a BBQ will be held on the terrace from 12 - 2pm.
The standard of tennis at this event is always high and you are invited to come along and support WLTC juniors along with other entrants from all corners of the UK & Europe in ages ranging from U11 to U21.
Eton Sports will be on site to do any re-stringing that may be required and will also have a range of tennis equipment & accessories for sale.

Closed Tournament Finals Day 12th July 2008

The Club closed tournament finals day is fast approaching and so far most matches are being played to schedule.
Arrangements for finals day are well under way with the order of play starting @ 10.00am.
There will be a lunchtime BBQ and the bar will be open all day.
The day will be topped off with a Presentation Evening from 8.00pm. Musical entertainment, presentation of trophies and a light buffet will hopefully be a fitting end to a well fought contest.
More details of the evening event will follow shortly but please put the date in your diary.
Please come along and support your fellow members and the club. Official umpires and line judges add an air of seriousness to the final matches, and the atmosphere on the balcony lively & partisan.

American Tournament Monday 26th May

The 'New Member' American tournament scheduled for Monday 26th @ 2pm has been opened up to all members.

The tournament will start at 2 pm and where possible existing/established members will be paired with new members.

The tournament will be followed by a BBQ on the new terrace (weather permitting or not!).

Entry fee for this tournament is £5 to cover the cost of balls, prizes and indoor courts if necessary. The BBQ is extra.

It is a great opportunity to meet new & old and if the weather is kind a great place to be.

Club Closed Tournament Finals Day

As promised some further information about Club Closed Tournament Finals day on July 14th.

Matches will start @ 10.00am and continue throughout the day.
From lunchtime onwards a BBQ will be held on the terrace.
The competition so far this year has been fierce with some epic confrontations. The standard of tennis on finals day promises to be of excellent quality. If you are not involved in the tennis, please do come along on the day to spectate & support your fellow members, as you will not be disappointed. The tournament is supervised by professional umpires which adds to the atmosphere.

This year the presentation of the trophies to the winners & runners up will take place in the evening.
There will be a buffet supper with a complimentary glass of Pimms
and musical entertainment from Annabelle Westcott, a member of WLTC who sings professionally. Nigel will accompany Annabelle on piano.
The mood will be easy listening/piano bar.
Tickets are now on sale at the bar priced £10
All tickets must be purchased by the 12th July.

The evening program will commence at 7.30 p.m. with Pimms & Supper (when hopefully all the matches have been completed) and presentations will begin @ 8.30pm.
The music will continue throughout the evening for your enjoyment.

The evening event is open to all members & their guests.

WIMBLEDON DRAW

This Sunday 6th May, the Wimbledon Draw will take place in the club lounge.
The draw starts @ 6pm with the first name being pulled out at approx. 6.30pm.
The draw will be preceeded by an American tournament starting at 2pm.
Champagne & Shepherd's Pie or Seafood Salad (£6.50) will be offered for supper.
Plese make sure that you sign up for the tournament and food before 5pm on Friday 4th!!

St Patrick's Day Race Night

A race night has been organised for Saturday 17th March, 7.30pm onwards. First Race is at 8pm.

During Breast Cancer Care Strawberry Tea Fortnight Windsor Lawn Tennis Club will be holding a "Tennis & Tea" to raise money for anyone affected by breast cancer.

The event will take place on Tuesday 18th July. You are invited to play tennis from 1- 2:30pm followed by afternoon Tea. Tickets are availible for £6 and all proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Care. Please feel free to email WLTC or sign up at the bar if you wish to attend. The closing date for entries is 11 o'clock on Monday 17th July.

This promises to be a very enjoyable afternoon for a very worthwhile cause (especially if the weather stays kind to us) and will be an excellent opportunity to play with/against ladies of all abilities in the club.

Just to remind you all of the 'Latin American Party' being held at the club next Saturday 20th May. @7.30pm

Professional Salsa demonstration, Salsa tuition and the chance to put what you have learnt into practice. There will be plenty of spare dance partners for you to dance with & lively music throughout the evening.

The food will be freshly cooked and supplied by the Bray Food Company and if the food for the Chinese Night was anything to go by, you will not be disappointed, there will be plenty to eat!! The menu is below and should whet your appetite.

The ticket price of £25 includes a three course meal and a complimentary Margarita.

The last indoor club night session

THE LAST INDOOR TUESDAY NIGHT CLUB SESSION WILL TAKE PLACE NEXT TUESDAY 11TH APRIL.
In order to mark the end of a long winter indoor season, it has been decided not to provide Pizza at tomorrow's session in return for some refreshments/light meal on the 11th.

A consensus as to the type of meal/refreshment offered, will be taken tomorrow and will cost the usual £5.

Please make an effort to come along for these last two sessions and spend a while socialising off of the court with many of those that you will meet on the outdoor courts from the 18th onwards.
It would be helpful to know numbers a little in advance and if you would like to be catered for.

the social evening planned for this Saturday is looming fast and your social committee would love to know, in addition to tickets already sold, how many of you out there are planning to come? As you all know too well, these events take a lot of organising and knowing the numbers is an integral part of this process!!
As detailed before, this night is intended to be fun and informal, with a chance to indulge in some great home cooking and the opportunity to participate in some traditional pub style games if you so wish.
The Irish theme will be complimented with lively Irish music, DRAUGHT GUINNESS and Irish/liqueur coffees.

It promises to be a very entertaining evening, so why not get a group of your friends together and make it a night to remember. With tickets at only £10 this has got to be a great way to eat out on a Saturday night in Windsor!!

St. Patrick's Day Pub Night

Hot on the heals of a very successful Chinese party, the social committee are organising a St. Patrick's Day Pub Night on Saturday 18th March from 7.30pm. It promises to be an action packed evening full of laughs, with a prize going to the person with the most original Irish Joke!!
There will be a variety of Pub style games, Irish Music, Bangers and Mash followed by Bread & Butter pudding.

The ticket price is only £10 including food so book early to avoid disappointment.

Any Irish artefacts which could be loaned to enhance the atmosphere would be greatly appreciated.

Chinese Party

please remember the Chinese Party will take place at the club this coming Saturday 25th February @ 7.30pm.

This is the first social event of the New Year and a new social committee has been working very hard to make this an enjoyable evening for all.
The ticket price of £17.50 includes a welcome drink and appetiser, a Chinese buffet, Martial Arts and Tai Chi demonstrations and for those who are interested a Tai Chi lesson! (please wear suitable clothing if you wish to participate in this(I.e trousers). There will be a disco afterwards to dance off those extra calories!! If you haven't already bought your ticket and you intend to come, please would you let me know by return email and I will hold your ticket. You may pay for your tickets by debit card and we would be happy to take payment over the telephone.
It is vital that we know numbers by tomorrow to pass on to the caterers. It is for this reason that this social event will be ticket only.
