NEW Tennis Ladders for 2012

New for 2012.

From January 1st we introduced a variety of Tennis Ladders at WLTC.  It is a great way to meet new players and have a lot of fun. In a tennis ladder, players are arranged like rungs of a ladder. Players challenge one another to a match. As a player wins or loses, the player moves up or down in position on the ladder. The goal of the tennis ladder is to be at the top.

We are using the Global Tennis Network to run our ladders online via a private network, which allows us to create and manage our own tennis ladders.  So SIGN UP NOW ready for January by following these simple steps to register:-

  1. To register on the Global Tennis Network please click here.
  2. Once you are registered click on the Networks Tab on the top bar.
  3. Click on Find a Network and search for Windsor Lawn Tennis Club (this should be shown in the Tennis Networks Section below).  If not use the search facility.
  4. On the righthand side you will see a button Join Now, click this and this will send the WLTC adminstrators notification of you wishing you join via email.  If you are a fully paid up member of the club we will approve your registration.
  5. Once approved you will receive the confirmation email of your joining you easily be able to get to your network by using the quick links button under your login details (only available once you have logged in).
  6. This will then take you to the WLTC home page.
  7. Click on the Live Ladders Number in the stats box on the right hand side.
  8. From there select the ladder you wish to join and click Join this Ladder.  NOTE: If you wish to join a doubles ladder it will bring up a drop down box showing the words Un-registered player.  If your partner has not yet joined the network or ladder their names will not show in this drop down box, so click Register and wait for your partner to join you.  If they have joined this ladder then click on the arrow in this drop down box, select the name of your partner, then click register.  If you select un-registered player by mistake and your partner is already listed, then remove yourself from the ladder and follow the aforementioned instructions.
  9. Follow the on-screen guidelines on how to challenge players.  An email will automatically be sent to your fellow member you are challenging asking them to accept or deny the challenge!

The following Ladders will be running – note you will only be able to access these links once you are a member of the WTLC Network on GTN.

The Ladder Rules are simple:

For Adult Ladders

  • This ladder will begin January 01, 2012 and end December 31, 2012.
  • Best of 3 Sets with 3rd Set Tiebreak: Best of 3 sets is first to win 2 sets. Each set is first to win 6 or more games with a margin of 2 games. A tie-breaker is played if each team has won 6 games. The third set tiebreak can be played to any number of points as long as the winner wins more points than the loser. Example scores: 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 or 6-3, 7-6
  • Players have 14 days to accept or decline a challenge before it is automatically declined.
  • Each time a player declines a challenge, they will drop 2 places.
  • Players have 3 wildcard challenges which allows them to play a much higher ranked player than the rules typically allow.
  • Players may only play an opponent within 3 ranks above or below them.
  • After the match the winner must submit the score onto the website.
  • All ladder members should maintain current contact information.  If you change phone numbers or email addresses, you must update your profile so other members can contact you and you will recieve email notifications.
  • We will use the Leapfrog System  to compute a players position on the ladder.  Leap Frog: This is the most basic and simplest ranking system. When a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player, the lower ranked player “leap frogs” over the higher ranked player. If the higher ranked player wins, nothing happens.
