There’s plenty of tennis and social activities coming up in June, i’ll summarise here and you can see the full details below in the newsletter.

Our Summer Salsa Party is the next event on 18th June, lots of you have booked your tickets so we look forward to a great evening! A few tickets are still available from the bar.

Our Annual Club Championships finals day is approaching, 26th June. We look forward to a day of excellent tennis and hope to see many of you there! Quick reminder if you’re involved in the competition to get your matches played, the full draw is available in the clubhouse. 


Congratulations to our men’s and ladies teams who represented the club at the recent National Finals. It was an amazing journey and big achievement reaching the finals firstly – both teams did the club proud on the day against top level competition. Please see the full update and photos of the day below.

Changing Rooms OPEN
We were delighted to confirm our new Changing Room refurbishment was completed in May, and they have been open for a few weeks now.

Works have also been completed in the club entrance, foyer, and corridor which has transformed the downstairs area of the club.

Thank you for your patience while works were ongoing, we are extremely pleased with the outcome and hope you all enjoy using them







Court 11 Update
Works on court 11 are still ongoing. The court resurfacing team have experienced several delays but reassure us it’s now close to completion. Announcement on court opening date will be sent asap, thank you for your patience. 





The Jubilee Celebrations

Club Policy on No-Shows

We are experiencing a recent increase in the number of ‘no shows’ at the club.
No-Shows are unacceptable and will be recorded, with action taken against members who abuse the rules.
Please make sure you cancel your booking if you cannot attend for any reason, allowing another member the chance to book that court. If you have not arrived within 15 minutes of your outdoor court booking, it will be recorded as a no-show and the court will be released to other members.
WLTC management are aware that some members use more than one Got Courts account to get around the booking rules. Members are expected to have ­ONE Got Courts account each, linked to their own name.
 Please Be Aware
Any breach will be recorded against the lead booker, who is responsible for the booking
Action will be escalated if abuse is found and repeated or continues within a set period 
 Court Booking Rules – ConfirmationMembers are permitted to book courts, via their ONE Got Courts account
Members are required to tag ALL playing partners to their booking
Members can book up to 2 courts per day, with at least 1 hour gap in between bookings
Members should not be on 2 bookings simultaneously, either as the lead booker, or a tagged playing partner.
Members must arrive within 15 minutes of their outdoor court booking, or it will be recorded as a no-show, resulting in the court being released.

Final deadline to get matches played is 19th June.
Finals day is 26th June.
 
Information Reminders
Players are responsible for organising their own matches and booking their own courts for these matches. You must write the completed scores on the draw (up in the bar area, on the notice board).
Matches MUST be completed by the ‘Play By’ date shown. Any match not completed will be coin tossed by The Championships Committee the following day, the winners of the coin toss will advance through to the next round.
The matches will be best of 3 sets, the 3rd set will be decided by a championship tiebreak (first to 10 points, 2 clear).
Now that the draw has been done you can not change your partner for any of the doubles events. If one person is no longer able to play I am afraid you will have to forfeit your match.

We are excited to announce that entries for ‘Windsor’s Wimbledon Grand Slam Series’ are now LIVE! 

WHAT IS IT?
“Wimbledon” is part of the Windsor Grand Slam series. It will be run on the grass courts at Home Park Lawn Tennis Club, and will be running it as a fun, social event. Please see below for details.

 FORMAT 
Players will enter the tournament singularly
Once entries close, the competition organisers will create pairs, and after each match you will be paired with a new partner – creating a fun, social environment for everyone to enjoy.
We will be running a men’s doubles and ladies doubles event, and will aim to keep the teams as fair as possible to give everyone a chance to get through to the final! 
The number of games you win will be converted into points, and the top 4 men/ladies with the most points at the end of the group stages will compete in the final.
FOOD
There will be a BBQ going on the day where you will be able to purchase some food. Teas and coffees will also be available.

Windsor Open Tournament 2022

We are gearing up for our annual Windsor Open Tournament which will run from Sunday 17th to Saturday 23rd July.
This is a Grade 3 tournament which attracts competitive players from across the UK and further afield.  Entries are now open via the LTA website – players enter from under 8 to adult and we are looking forward to a quality week of tennis.  Many of our own Windsor members enter and all adult matches will be played from 6.30pm in the evening. 
Calling All Volunteers
Every year our members kindly volunteer as court supervisors during the week which involves supervising the matches and reporting any disputes to our tournament referees.  It is a great way to understand more about competition tennis and to be able to watch some fantastic junior matches.  You don’t need to have done this before, and will be fed and watered throughout the day.  We are looking for helpers on Sunday 17th to Saturday 23rd July so please email tennismanager@wltc.co.uk if you can help, even if just for a couple hours.  
Club Sessions & Court Availability
Unfortunately there will be no day time club sessions during the week and it’s unlikely the evening sessions will be able to go ahead, due to the anticipated high number of entries. We will keep you updated throughout the week and if evening club sessions can go ahead, we will announce as early as possible. Courts will become available for you to book in the afternoons/evenings so do check your Got Courts app or www.gotcourts.com for the most up to date information.  Courts will be released hourly so keep checking your app!  Parking may be limited during the week and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Windsor Lawn Tennis Club is one of only 4 clubs in the country who have made it to the National Premier League finals in both the Ladies and Men’s events! 

The teams kicked off at 12:00 on Tuesday 31st May 2022 at St George’s Hill Tennis Club, and did the club proud!

HUGE congratulations to both teams for this achievement, from everyone at WLTC!

 Team


“The men’s team, made up of: Jasper Richardson & Marcus Jones and Hafeez Hameed & Jack Slaughter lost in four well contested matches and remained extremely competitive throughout against opposition currently 600 in the world or who have held ATP points in the past. It was a great experience for the team and even better exposure for our club.

Windsor was the most well supported team there and a HUGE thanks go to everyone who came to support the teams compete. Bikram Chopra, Peter Buck, David Woon, The Gunasekara’s, The Balmes, The Slaughters, The Hameed’s, The Jones’…Not only was it great representation for WLTC but it also gave the players a huge boost and there were plenty of smiles all round! Reaching the final has definitely whet the appetite for more and we will be back again in the future that’s for sure!!! Thank you also to WLTC for all the support and backing you have given us!”

Update from the Ladies Team


“We won our first match against Halton and then faced the top seeds Sutton.
Unfortunately we lost to Sutton closely and had a chance to go into a shootout but narrowly missed it with a 12-10 loss in the third set tiebreak.

Thanks from the entire NPL team to the committee for the support offered.
It was especially nice to know the televised matches were being shown at the club as well as the well-wishes and some in-person support as well”.

Tennis fanatic, Member and Castle View CEO Robin Hughes, cordially invites all WLTC members aged 55 and over to enjoy an evening of tennis watched from Castle View’s Penthouse balcony.  The apartment is about to be sold so this is a final and one off chance to see Castle View, watch tennis and mingle.

Russell John Connor, one of our members, has just had his novel, Caught in the Baltic Tide, published.
Congratulations to him on behalf of the Club.

Original in its perspective and unusual in its setting, ‘Caught in the Baltic Tide’ offers a valuable addition to historical fiction of WWII.
 
To help it get publicised, he is looking for people to read it and write a review on Amazon.
If you are able to do this, Russell is happy to lend a copy, but of course, sales would be appreciated too!

Slinger Ball Machine
It’s back and available to hire!


The Slinger Ball Machine is now available to hire again from the Bar.
Please see below the updated instructions for hiring the Slinger Ball Machine.
How to Hire: The Slinger Ball Machine can ONLY be hired at the bar, or over the phone on 01753 830820, to avoid any issues of double bookings.
Cost: £10ph
Please be aware:
The ball machine can only be used on courts 4, 7 & 10. The bar staff will check availability before booking you one of these courts.
The ball machine cant be used if raining or if the court surface is wet. If in doubt please allow time to call the bar on 01753 830820, ahead of your reservation.

Members can book indoor courts 21 days in advance 
If a court is cancelled less than 48 hours before your booking, you will be charged for the booking
Cancellation Policy
The cancellation policy is now48 hours, effective from March 8th, meaning you can now cancel your courts up to 48 hours before your court reservation.

Guest Fees 
Adult Guests are required to be set up on Got Courts.   

The guest can do this themselves simply by downloading Got Courts app and setting up a profile

The Club Manager will check and approve the guest, add them as a ‘non-member’, which will allow them to be tagged into your bookings.

How to pay Adult Guest Fees
At the point of booking a court, the lead member will be able to tag their guest and make the payment before completing the booking. 
If there’s any issue making payment via Got Courts, please make sure you pay the guest fee at the bar beforeyou start on court.
Cost: Adult – £10
How to pay Junior Guest Fees
All Junior Guest Fees are to be paid at the bar beforeyou start on court.
Cost: Juniors – £2.50
 

Hiring the Club House for an Event


Our clubhouse is available to hire for an event, please see the information below and if you have any questions please contact our Bar Manager Laura on bar@wltc.co.uk 

Information
Available Saturday 6.30pm to Midnight (last orders 11.30pm)*
Set up can be from 6pm providing the club is quiet.
Can hold up to 125 people
£400 (for members) £500 (non-members) to hire the room for up to 50 people from 6.30pm to Midnight which includes 2 bar staff – payable by bank transfer at least a day before the event.  For 75 people a third bar staff will be provided (supplement of £75); For 100 or more people a fourth bar staff will be provided (supplement of £150)
£200 deposit to hold booking and for security against damage to the clubhouse/equipment to be paid by at least 2 weeks before the event – deposit non-refundable if booking cancelled.
 
Recommendations/ Optional ExtrasWe can recommend caterers or clients can bring in their own food/caterers (caterer’s responsibility to clean kitchen after use and provide all crockery and cutlery)
Decorations can be put up which do not mark the walls etc – but must be removed immediately after the party.
We can recommend DJ, photo booth etc or clients can use their own
Furniture can be moved by client, in consultation with Bar Manager
