Dear Members, I hope you’re enjoying the warmer weather! We’ve had a lot going on at the club; our Club Championships finals day, the Summer Party, Wimbledon Grand Slam Series, Teams matches and kids summer camps. Our court 11 has now opened and is available to book via Got Courts. There is plenty still in store over the coming weeks – starting with the annual Windsor Open grade 3 tournament, 17th – 23rd July. Keep an eye out during the week as we may be able to release some courts to members in the evening. Big thank you to our volunteers who have put themselves forward to help during the week! Full information on this tournament is included below. See below for updates and keep an eye out on club announcements. Jack Allan WLTC Club Manager Court 11 – Open Court 11 was opened for bookings on 1st July. Slinger Ball Machine Don’t forget, WLTC has a Slinger Ball Machine available at the club, for members to hire alongside their court booking. We’re pleased to report excellent feedback from the members who’ve used it! Keen to try it for yourself? See the information below. How to Hire: The Slinger Ball Machine can ONLY be hired at the bar, or over the phone on 01753 830820, to avoid any issues of double bookings. Cost: £10ph Please be aware: The ball machine can only be used on courts 4, 7, 10 & 11. The bar staff will check availability before booking you one of these courts. The ball machine cant be used if raining or if the court surface is wet. If in doubt please allow time to call the bar on 01753 830820, ahead of your reservation. If your ideal booking slot is already taken, Got Courts allows you to join the waiting list for the court booking. You will be notified if that booking gets cancelled, allowing you the chance to book. Simply login via your Got Courts app or www.gotcourts.com Select the (already booked) slot you would like to ‘join the waiting list’ You will receive confirmation, and can access the waiting list at any time under ‘reservations’ section Upcoming Tournaments Windsor Open Tournament 2022 Our annual Windsor Open Tournament will run from this Sunday 17th, to Saturday 23rd July. This is a Grade 3 tournament which attracts competitive players from across the UK and further afield. The deadline for entries is now closed and the schedule is available to see here > LTA website. Players enter from under 8 to adult and we are looking forward to a quality week of tennis. Many of our own Windsor members enter and all adult matches will be played from 5.30pm in the evening. Volunteers Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer! We still require some assistance on Sunday 17th, Tuesday 19th, and Thursday 21st (From 1pm) so if you’d like to assist please sign up at the bar, or email tennismanager@wltc.co.uk Every year our members kindly volunteer as court supervisors during the week which involves supervising the matches and reporting any disputes to our tournament referees. It is a great way to understand more about competition tennis and to be able to watch some fantastic junior matches. You don’t need to have done this before, and will be fed and watered throughout the day. When you arrive, please check in with the tournament referees upstairs in the lounge, they will run you through duties and give any necessary instructions. Club Sessions & Court Availability Unfortunately there will be no day time club sessions during the week and it’s unlikely the evening sessions will be able to go ahead, due to the anticipated high number of entries. We will keep you updated throughout the week and if evening club sessions can go ahead, we will announce as early as possible. Courts will become available for you to book in the afternoons/evenings so do check your Got Courts app or www.gotcourts.com for the most up to date information. Courts will be released hourly so keep checking your app! Car Park Parking may be limited during the week and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
