Upcoming Tournaments

Dear Players,

We are excited to announce that entries for ‘Windsor’s US Open’ are now LIVE!

“The US Open”  is part of the Windsor Grand Slam series. It will be run on the acrylic courts at Windsor Lawn Tennis Club, and we will be running it as a fun, social event. Please see below for details.

The number of games you win will be converted into points, and the top 4 players with the most points at the end of the group stages will compete in the final.

Upcoming Events

Please join us on Saturday 24th September at 7:30pm in the Mustill Lounge for a classic slice of comedy Country House Murder Mystery, with a host of colourful characters ready to give you murder! Will you be able to solve the crime?
‘Dead Over Dinner’
The year is 1927, the setting is a large Country house in Windsor.
The dining room is set.
The suspects you’ll know.
The weapons are obvious.
Murder is on the Menu!
The Professor’s dinner parties are the talk of the town. But it’s never a question of what he serves but rather who he has invited. Tonight, the VIP list includes an ex-military professional, a silent movie actress and a celebrated London chef. Each is instructed to bring a gift of interest, value or charm!
INFORMATION:
Tickets
Priced at £42.00 per person, are now on sale at the bar or by calling 01753 830820, (guests and non members welcome) and will include a three course meal.
Please see attachment and advise us at time of booking of any dietary requirements.
Arrival Time
The performance must start at 7:30pm sharp so please be seated and ready to start.
For further information email social@wltc.co.uk
FURTHER INFORMATION:
The comedy drama is being performed by a group of actors who will portray characters visiting a 1920’s country house.  They have all been invited to a dinner party but during the evening one of the characters will unfortunately meet an untimely end.  It is then up to all of you – Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot – to unravel the mystery and solve the crime!
Tables of eight guests will compete to be the first to name the murderer but there is no requirement for the audience to be involved in the actual performance.  The actors will circulate the room giving clues to each table to assist them in the puzzle.
During the evening a three-course supper will be provided between acts.  The evening commences promptly at 7.30pm so you should ensure you arrive in plenty of time before the start of the performance.  There will be prizes and certificates for the winning table!
All members and non-members are invited – so why not get a group together to make up a table of eight or we can help put tables together – a great opportunity to meet other members.
As we will need to advise our caterers on expected numbers shortly, it would be extremely helpful, if you are planning to join us, that you purchase your tickets from the Bar, or telephone 01753 830820 to make your booking as soon as possible, we are limiting tickets to just 80.
If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at social@wltc.co.uk and we really look forward to seeing you at what should be a great fun evening.
Best wishes from the Social Team

Update from Ladies Teams:
From Grainne Leyton-Smith & Sarah Runnicles (Overall Captains):

Ladies Team Goals for the Summer season were:
– Keep the 1st team in Div1 – ✅
– Keep the 2nd team up in Div 2 (most at risk) – ✅
– Promote  the 3rd team from Div 4A to 3B-  ✅
– Promote the 4th team from Div 6A to 5B- ✅
– Keep the 5th team up in Div 6B- but  actually they’ve smashed it by being promoted to 6A ✅ ✅

With the 2nd team so depleted, we took the opportunity to try out 3rd and 4th team players in the 2nd team which has proved successful and  really accelerated some players match play. Of course it also plays to the need to create ways to facilitate improving players, moving up into higher level teams. That approach along with some timely new members of the right standard, means we now have a solid, new 2nd team to take forward into the winter league.
A huge well done to all players and all captains- a successful summer indeed.

Update from Mens Teams:
Kieran Muir (Mens 1st Team Captain)
Windsor Men’s 1st team finished top and are league champs for Division 1 in the Berkshire Summer League. We completed the “double” by becoming Regional League Winners in the National League competition for the first time in 8 appearances, and will now compete in the National Tier for 2023. A huge achievement by the whole squad.

Bikram Chopra (Mens 4th Team Captain)
Windsor Men’s Team 4 had a very successful Summer Season 2022..
We finished First, winning the Division / League decisively by virtue of strong perfomances all throughout the season.. Consequently, earned  promotion to Division 3..

Russel Connor (Mens 6th Team)
6th Team secured promotion after finishing second in the league, after Phyllis Court I Team.

Update from Mixed Teams:
Team News Summer 2022:

Men’s: Final Standing –
Team 4 came First by winning their Division and were promoted to Division 3..

Over 45: Winning Draw vs Wokingham 2..
Final Standing of 4th out of 8 Teams and stayed in Div 2

Latest Mixed Teams Results:

1sts – Loss 1- 3 vs Wargrave 1
2nds – Winning Draw vs Wargrave 2
3rds – Losing Draw vs Caversham Mixed 4
